A brilliant year of markets begins at Cambridge Markets

A very warm welcome to 2022 to you, our dear marketgoers and stallholders. We hope you had a lovely break over the holiday season and are stepping into this new year brimming with energy and optimism. We certainly are! We’re thrilled to be shedding off 2021 and look forward to a year of exciting and diverse markets.

Whether you’re big on making resolutions or prefer not to hold yourself accountable (our hands are up), one easy, attainable adaption you can make for a healthier you is to shop at your local market each week. When you buy groceries from our brilliant stalls, you can be assured you’re eating fresh, nutrient-rich food that is grown locally and transported with an awareness of our environmental impact. There’s something so wholesome about biting into a crisp apple, knowing it has been tended with care.

Shopping at our outdoor markets is also a much safer and healthier option than pushing a trolley down fluorescent-lit aisles of the supermarket. And you also have the opportunity to chat with the people who grow and make your food. Connecting in this way is not only good for business, but also feeds our social selves.

So come along with your basket (don’t have one yet? Stop by 2 Ducks Trading at the market), and fill it with beautiful, nourishing food and throw in a bunch of seasonal blooms from Mayfarm Flowers to really brighten your weekend.

Stall spotlight – Zentient Culture

If you’re turning over a gut-focussed leaf this year, make sure you swing by Central Coast-based Zentient Culture at the market to try their healthful kombucha and fermented beverages. Their high-quality, handcrafted drinks are made from fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices are not only entirely refreshing and delicious, but also encourage good gut health. The magic of slow-brewed fermentation gets to work on the organic and ethically sourced ingredients to produce an effervescent kombucha that’s low in sugar but full of probiotics, vitamins and good-for-you bacteria. Bottoms up!

Also at the market this week…
While we’re easing gently into the new year, we’re delighted to welcome back many of our beloved stallholders this week. Swing by to top up the fridge at Prickle Hill, Vegie King, Zentient Culture and Juice Queen. Make sure the pantry is stocked at Organic Bread Bar, Nut by Nature and Hi Tea. And make the most of Buffalo Vale Distillery before everyone tips into Feb Fast. There’s also a selection of candles, homewares and plants, and delicious eats for a post-shop feast from China Dragon, Pho Bay and Berliner Bakery.

A note of housekeeping

Please make a note in your diary that we will be closed next Wednesday the 26th for Australia Day. So make sure you grab all your required goodies tomorrow if you’re having a backyard barbecue or heading to the beach for a picnic.

A summer of markets
We have two massive summer markets to look forward to before autumn takes hold. The first will be the Watsons Bay Summer Market, held at Robertson Park on Sunday January 30 from 10am–3pm. There’ll be loads to browse with more than 150 stallholders in attendance, peddling everything from fashion, jewellery and homewares to pet and kid wares, as well as plenty of delicious morsels to enjoy. We’re beside ourselves with anticipation to finally hold this market after it was cancelled due to bad weather last year. It’s going to be a wonderful day.

If you’re keen to relive the experience, then make your way south on February 5–6 when we’ll be holding The Shire Summer Market at Shaw Oval, Miranda. This is also a mixed market full of interesting wares and tempting food. It’s bound to be loads of fun and buzzing with festival feelings. See you there.

For potential stallholders…

Spaces are filling up quickly for these two fantastic summer celebrations, so if you’re interested in participating in either the Watsons Bay or The Shire summer markets, please get in touch with us today. We’re always interested in hearing from premium and interesting new stallholders.
