We’re delighted to welcome everyone back to our Entertainment Quarter market this week. Our regular Wednesdays and Saturdays resume as of tomorrow, so sidestep the supermarket and come down to visit your local growers and producers instead.

Shopping at an open-air community market is a wonderfully healthy way to find the best produce and support small business. Doing a weekly shop at the market keeps you connected to your food and those who produce it, so you always know you’re buying at the peak of freshness, which ultimately means you’re enjoying nourishing and nutrient-rich foods. It’s a win-win for your health and the health of our local economy.

Just a reminder, we ask you to please stay COVID safe by sanitising your hands, keeping an appropriate distance from others and checking in on your phone when you arrive. And of course, to protect our community and yourself, if you feel unwell, please stay at home – we’ll always be there to greet you next week!

The flavour and fragrance of summer is everywhere you turn at the market. Simon from Veggie King has a heady collection of stonefruit, such as plump peaches, nectarines, apricots, cherries and plums. Meanwhile, James from Prickle Hill is about to harvest his sugar and amber jewel plums. You can never have too many of these juice-laden treats, but if you find yourself getting carried away, flex those granny skills you learnt in lockdown and simply turn them into stewed fruits, jams, or ice-creams. There are also jammy figs, verdant kale and salad greens in abundance. Mayfarm Flowers will be back both days with their vibrant bouquets to brighten your day or your hallway.

While some of our regular stallholders are taking an extended break, there’s still plenty to stir excitement at the market this week. On Wednesday, we have Organic Bread Bar, Prickle Hill and Veggie King on-hand to furnish your fridge and pantry. There’s also our regular fashion favourites of Venetia Elaine, Flamingo Merchant and Silk Route. Stock up on your lotions and potions refills from Verve Candles and accessorise your health with a face mask from Raw Essence. On Saturday, find your perfect hat at Perez Trading and fancy up your four-legged friend at Goodie 4 Paws and Rex and Co. Finish your outing at Pho Bay Noodle for a bowl of the good broth.
