More Christmas cheer this weekend at Cambridge Markets EQ

Despite last weekend’s wild weather, the Christmas spirit was undeniably alive and well at the EQ Ultimate Christmas Market. A big, warm thank you to all who came along to share in the festivities and tick some items off your Christmas shopping lists. In doing so, you help to support local producers and businesses who make a living creating wonderful and innovative products.

As the health and safety of our marketgoers and stallholders is paramount to us, the extremely hot and windy conditions unfortunately dictated that we close the market earlier than planned. We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience caused, however, we must ensure the market remains safe above all else. If you didn’t manage to finish your shopping, don’t worry, there are still plenty more markets until Christmas Eve is upon us.

And at the Entertainment Quarter this weekend and the next, is the Sydney Christmas Fair. Bring the whole family along and strap in for hours of jolly fun, with carnival rides, movies, elf workshops, a gingerbread house party and, of course, the man of the moment himself, Mr Santa Claus, will be on hand to receive lists of demands and snap contactless photos. Entry is just $5 or $25 for the two-hour Unlimited Rider Wristband, but numbers are limited to ensure safety, so be sure to book your tickets online now.

There’s still time to be the most organised person in your circle, so pop down to the market this weekend and enjoy the satisfaction of checking those remaining people off your gift list. We have the sweet-scented Verve Candles, glittering gems at Bowerbird Jewels, French finery at 2 Duck Trading, timelessly stylish hats at Perez Trading, and kaleidoscopic threads at Flamingo Merchant. And fuel the joy of finding that perfect gift with bites from Tothy Brothers Deli, Pho Bay Noodle, The Italian Guy, Mojo Picon, Thicc Cookies and Ottoman Gozleme.

Olive artisans Byron Bay Olive Company are now available online, making all your festive season antipasti plates that little bit more exciting and easy to prepare. Create a lavish spread with their marinated olives, preserved lemon, tapenades, marinate garlic and other moreish goodies such as cured French meats, pates, and marinated feta. And don’t forget there are many more delicious favourites online that belong on your holiday table, such as Hudson’s gluten-free baked goods, Berliner Donuts, Scrumpets’ sourdough crumpets, refreshing Xesus Juices and pre-made curries from Taj Mahal Fine Foods.

If you’re searching for a gift that is both meaningful and beautiful, swing by Bands of Courage at the market this weekend. This do-good, sustainable brand plants 10 mangrove trees for every one of their glass bracelets sold. Each one is named after an endangered species or natural habitat, such as the polar bear, giant panda, The Great Barrier Reef or Wakatobi Reef, serving to raise awareness of the destruction climate change wreaks on the natural world. Bands of Courage planted 785 trees from our Miranda Christmas Market and 385 trees from last weekend’s Ultimate Christmas Market, let’s hope we can plant a few hundred more trees this weekend from our Saturday market.
