It’s time to get prepped for the return of school, which also means the return of the school lunchbox. If that ignites a slight panicked feeling in your chest, never fear, there are plenty of nutritious and wholesome treats and eats at the market to solve the enduring lunchbox battle.

Whether you have insatiable eaters or ones on the pickier side, you’ll find something to please your brood from beautiful fresh fruit to delicious nuts and nibbles, and baked goods. While you’re at it, stock up on supplies for the inevitable after-school pantry raid. Direct the kids to the blender to make themselves smoothies filled with fresh fruit and creamy yoghurt or fill the fridge with tasty dips and vegetable sticks for a healthy pre-dinner snack. Bring the kids along to the market to choose their own food from our wonderful stallholders and get them involved in selecting their weekly lunches. You never know, it may even mean you unpack an empty lunchbox at the end of the day!

We welcome Bottega 1900 to the market every Saturday with their beautiful and organic Italian products. Italophiles will adore the hand-selected range of gourmet pantry items and Tuscan-made skincare from Biofficina Toscana. Importers, wholesalers and retailers, Bottega 1900 are committed to showcasing small, family-made-and-owned products of the highest quality. Pop down and try their wares that embrace la vita dolce, such as monocultivar extra-virgin olive oil, ancient grain pasta, and fair trade coffee beans and capsules.

Come down and say hello to market regular, John, from The Regional Store this Wednesday. John is back on deck with his certified organic fruits and vegetables that highlight the best of the season. Pile the fruit bowl with the freshest picks of the week to throw into lunchboxes, satisfy that after-school hunger, or alleviate that 11am office snack attack.

Also this week, Simon from Veggie King has beautiful bunches of plump green and red Australian grapes. Our hot tip is to pop the grapes in the freezer for a sweet and icy summer treat the kids will love. Simon also says now is the perfect time to indulge in stonefruit, which is in season and at peak flavour. He also has delicious passionfruit that’s perfect for drizzling over your morning yoghurt or evening ice-cream. And fill the crisper with summer salad essentials of kale, shallots, radish, basil and English spinach.

On Wednesday and Saturday we have Mathematicalendar at the market. This clever product is made and created in Sydney and is perfect for both budding and long-time math enthusiasts. Each date on the calendar has an interesting equation and also connects maths to everyday situations, so you can see the many ways in which numbers govern our day-to-day lives. Fascinating, entertaining and educational all at once!

Thank you and happy shopping.
