Hands-on-hearts, we are irredeemable food-lovers at Cambridge Markets. From fresh and vibrant produce to artisanal antipasti, baked delights and succulent cuts of wood-smoked meats, we eschew any urge to limit our enjoyment of flavour. That means we periodically fail at diets (or rather, even the decision to commit to a diet) and instead put our faith in the adage that a little bit of everything in moderation can only be a good thing.

That’s why, at the market, we have an array of delicious bites, large and small, for you to revel in. There’s a veritable smorgasbord of food stalls on rotation from one week to the next. Abandon any notions of limiting yourself and come down to try everything from lively Israeli salads and falafel from Homeland Street Food; luscious burgers and flatbreads from Bellamy and Co; a perfectly formed French crepe from Crepes Mademoiselle; incredible Vietnamese classics from Pho Bay Noodle; unctuous meats and rolls from Marinate and The Street Food Project; Spanish zing from Mojo Picon; and experience a flavour revelation at Taste of Ethiopia. Not to mention amazing pizza, gozleme, Chinese dumplings, vegan kofta, and loads of sweet treats! There’s too much to indulge in with just one visit, so pop down and spoil your tastebuds this week, and next week, and the following week... and so on.

The most romantic day of the year is coming. If you have a sweet-toothed but gluten-intolerant Valentine, pop down to Hudson’s Bakery this Wednesday and Saturday. Specialising in gluten-free baked treats, you can find all manner of temptations at the stall, from treats of brownies and gingerbread to a ‘lunch special’ and delicious pizza. But our pick this week are the adorable Valentines sugar biscuits. They’re certain to unlock hearts and succeed where Cupid’s arrow may have missed.

Their motto is ‘abundant in nature, generous in spirit’ and we couldn’t agree more with Mayfarm Flowers, who strive and succeed in bringing beauty to the everyday. This week, self-described ‘flower man’ Chris has an abundance of fresh-cut lillies direct from his farm in Nashdale. Chris is brimming with floral wisdom, and we love his quote that we must accept flowers will perish and enjoy our decision to purchase them regardless, “expect nothing of them – they have already given to you,” he says. Their beauty may be fleeting, but they do indeed bring supreme joy in their short and fragile lifetimes.

Our growers have an enviable passion for what they pull out of the earth. You’d be hard-pressed to find fresher and more nurtured produce anywhere in Sydney. So come down and fill your market basket with beautiful, nutrient-rich fruit and veg. This week, Prickle Hill is harvesting sweet and plump sugar plums. The purplish fruit sound, look and taste like they belong in a fairytale. There’s also fresh, organic produce from John at the Regional Store each week and Simon from Veggie King always has a wide range of fruit and vegetables to fill your wholesome quota.

See you at the market!
