If, as the old adage goes, you are what you eat, well, we’re bananas this week! Michael from Banana Bar is bringing basketfuls of delicious, sweet Coffs Harbour bananas. So whether you’re making smoothies, milkshakes, cakes or ice-cream, toss a banana or two in there. Michael also has beautiful late-summer stonefruit, juicy pears and plump grapes.

Simon from Veggie King has grapes on his menu, too. Stop to try his white and red muscatels. Our hot tip for a sweltering day is to pop a bunch in the freezer for an iced delight. For the salad bowl, Simon has juicy Roma and midget tomatoes, and green and red cabbage.

Don’t forget to swing by Scrumpets for your sourdough crumpet fix, stock up on dinner dressings at Naturally Sourced, service your snack attacks at Naughty Nuts, and visit Organic Bread Bar for your daily bread and pastries. As ever, it’s a cornucopia of fresh, local, and handmade goodness at the market.

Inspired by the Moroccan cuisine of her childhood, the lockdown-born business of Zee’s Love In A Jar is full of heart and flavour. As a chef and yoga teacher, Zee’s range of jarred eats is created to nourish the body. Made by hand and free from preservatives and artificial flavours, Zee’s recipes are crafted for delicious wellness, such as her Zohara’s shakshuka, inspired by her Grandmother. Come down on Wednesday to grab some and make Zee’s recipe for shakshuka eggs below…

For two people (food always tastes better shared)

Heat half a jar of Zee’s Love In A Jar Shakshuka sauce in a pan. While the sauce is bubbling, play your favourite music and dance like nobody’s watching. Stop simmer time, crack 2–4 eggs on top of the sauce, cover with a lid and keep on dancing. Like your eggs soft? Cook for 5 minutes. Harder? Add a few more minutes. Zee recommends adding spinach, feta or plant-based cheese and Zee’s Love in A Jar preserved lemon. Eat with fresh bread soaked in butter or olive oil. Try enjoying it straight out of the pan using bread as your spoon. Less mess = more dancing.
