With daylight savings already enticing us outdoors for evening swims and barbecues, it’s a sure sign summer is not far away. And with the sunniest of seasons comes an influx of delicious produce. So much, in fact, that we’ve had to open a new market just to spread some of that bounty around. That means the Northern Beaches is getting a brand-new market this Sunday. The Belrose Produce Market launches this week on the rooftop carpark of the Belrose Super Centre, Niangala Close, Belrose, and will run every Sunday from 8am–2pm.

Come along and pick up beautifully fresh, nutrient-dense produce in a healthy, safe, open-air market. Not only will you be supporting small-scale farmers and producers, but you’ll be able to enjoy an incredible community atmosphere alongside delicious hot food, such as Sun of Naples wood-fired pizza, French Counter crepes, and Mediterranean flatbreads from Bellamy and Co. We’re so looking forward to being a part of the wonderful northside community. Hope to see you on the roof this Sunday!

Of course, for eastsiders, Cambridge Markets EQ will be thriving as usual tomorrow. This week, pop down to revel in the flavours and creations of our brilliant artisans, makers, and producers.

Specialists in kombucha and fermented drinks on-tap, Zentient Culture make incredibly flavoursome drinks to please your palate and your gut biome. Their beverages are made using only local, ethical and certified organic ingredients, and are poured straight from the tap into sustainable stainless-steel kegs, so you can feel wholly virtuous as you sip their hand-crafted kombucha.

Enjoy traditional salami made using the time-honoured methods of Northern and Southern Italy. Gluten-free and entirely Australian made and owned, using sustainable Aussie pork, Great Southern Salami Co have experience crafting these fermented sausages from as far back as the 1950s. Swing by to pick up a Calabrese, pepperoni, black truffle, or green olive version to complete your weekend antipasto platter.

Also at EQ tomorrow, we’re proud to be the enablers of your sugar-indulgence with delicious treats from Berliner DonutsAngie’s Dutch Pancakes, pies and tarts from Maison Café, and Crepes Mademoiselle. On the savoury side, be tempted by Vietnamese bowls at Pho Bay Noodle, New York-style bagels from Brooklyn Boy Bagels, Spanish spice from Mojo Picon, traditional gozleme from Ottoman Gozleme, and tasty parcels from Chinese Dumplings. Bring your rug and roll it out on the grass for a market picnic.

Yes, it’s still only October, but in case you haven’t learnt by now, December 25 rolls around with alarming speed. So, it’s never too early to start scouting for those perfect pressies. At EQ this week, stop by Umka Baby for adorable clothes and swaddles for the smallest recipient, spot fashionable gifts at Elegance by AChia & Me and Bowerbird Jewels. And find presents to add presence in the home at Harnett’s Yard and Verve Candles.

It’s the season for those little, red flavour bombs, tomatoes. Throw them into lunchboxes, toss them in salads and grill them on the barbecue. Blueberries are also still in abundance, making their appearance on breakfasts, in smoothies, in cakes and muffins, and even roasted and served over ice-cream. Simon from Vegie King also has a cornucopia of vegetables this week, including Dutch orange and purple carrots, zucchini, broccoli, baby buk choy. And not to forget what we’ve all been waiting for, mangoes.
