School holidays are upon us again and it is a perfect time to bring the whole family to a beautiful outdoor experience at Cambridge Markets EQ. We have a bonanza of stalls at the moment, with plenty to see and do for the whole family. From soft toys, jewellery, candles and children’s clothing to a wonderful array of fresh produce and hot food stalls, there’s something for the young and the old. Best of all, get your kids to chat to the farmers about the food they grow, and the producers who turn raw ingredients into something delicious. There’s nothing like chatting to a real farmer or producer to understand the work they do. Especially as we live through this pandemic, it is important for kids to know where their food comes from, about the important work farms and producers do to keep us safe and healthy. It’s a fabulous family experience and there’s plenty of fresh air and space plus lots of grass for the kids to run around upon and feel the freedom of not being cooped up.

Our stallholder profile this week is of the delightful Buffalo Vale Distillery who are now attending Cambridge Markets EQ every Saturday. This small-batch distillery was founded on the banks of the Buffalo Creek, a tributary or Sydney Harbour and produces craft gin, vodka and a single-botanical spirit, as well as hand-sanitiser. All products are made from scratch in a lab in North Ryde using mostly Australian native botanicals that have all been locally sourced.

“Our process closely follows that of the traditional whisky distillers, beginning by fermenting our own pure water based wash, which is then distilled into an incredibly smooth base spirit,” the team says. “We then re-distill our base spirit to infuse the flavours of the selected home-grown botanicals which have been blended to reflect the gentle character of our locale.”

These delicious spirits are for purchase and enjoyment off site. We know you’ll love them.

We also have a new food stall who joins us on Wednesdays and Saturdays — Biryani Mombassa. Biriyani comes from the coastal heart of Africa and these biryanis come in lamb, chicken, beef and vegetarian varieties all served out of deep pan dishes. “Inspired by the love of our homeland dish, Biriyani Mombasa brings the mouth-watering spice of life from the coastal heart of Africa to markets of Sydney,” says .”We offer a unique interpretation of the world famous biriyani done Kenyan-style using unique African spices and served out of our deep-pan dish.”
