We’d love to say a big, warm thank you to everyone who came along to our very first Ryde Wharf Market last week. It was so lovely to see the local community come out in support of artisan makers and producers and enjoy a beautiful and healthy open-air shopping experience. If you didn’t make it along, don’t worry, the market will be returning to Anderson Park on the 13th of December. Just in time to pick up those last-minute stocking-fillers!

Speaking of seasonal gifting, be sure to come along to one of our wonderful Christmas markets being held later this month. First up is the Shire Christmas Markets at Miranda’s Seymour Shaw Oval on the 21st and 22nd of November. And the following Sunday, on the 29th of the month, is the Ultimate Christmas Market at the Entertainment Quarter.

Our markets are the perfect place to find something made consciously, ethically and with a beautiful story behind it. It’s where you’ll find passionate locals creating incredible wares that you simply won’t find at a big mall, from edible treats to homewares and sustainable fashion. Come and join us this Christmas for thoughtful gift ideas everyone will treasure. See you there!

Olive Oil both 250ml 4.jpg

t has long been the Byron Bay Olive Co’s mission to find the absolute best, local olive oil for their customers. And we’re happy to report their tireless hunt has reaped rewards with the business now able to offer 100 per cent organic olive oil made here in New South Wales. This golden elixir is extracted from award-winning organic olives for the most pure flavour that we could just about drink! There’s a subtle fruity version or a more full-bodied robust oil to choose from, depending on your tastes and needs. Come along to the EQ on Wednesday and pick yourself up a bottle.

We’re all about sparking joy at the market, so join us today and on Saturday to find your own spark. It may come by way of Scrumpets, who make naturally fermented, sourdough crumpets using local and preservative-free ingredients. They’re at the market both days and we can attest that they taste as delicious as they sound. Today, we also have the artful Merchants of Nonsense, who love to poke fun with their handmade, limited edition prints, journals and greeting cards. They’re a bit cheeky, proudly Aussie, and perfect for those who don’t take themselves too seriously. On Saturday, get sticky fingers with the Honey Library’s delightful monofloral honey. Harvested and produced in Lake Macquarie, the flavour is both interesting and unusual. And don’t forget, on Saturdays, kids can enjoy a trot around on a pony and there’s always a jumping castle, fly motion bungee and fishing joy games.

The heady fragrance of a summertime orchard has arrived to the market with an abundance of new season stonefruit. We have sensationally sweet yellow peaches and white nectarines for $12 per kilo and yellow nectarines for $10 per kilo. Of course, they are a treat eaten just as they are, but if you’re looking for an easy, fresh dessert, simply serve sliced peaches and nectarines dolloped with Amaretto-whipped cream and scattered with toasted, slivered almonds and a few mint sprigs. Heaven!

As always, this week online we have plenty of fresh fruit and vegetable specials. It’s mojito time with limes for just $7.50 for 500g and mint for $3 a bunch. And get berry merry with $4 punnets of strawberries, blueberry punnets for $4.50, and raspberries for $6. Head here to make the most of our fruit basket specials. And don’t forget, the gluten-free are now well-catered for online with the addition of Hudson’s Bakery selling their coeliac-friendly treats from bread to muffins and choc-chip cookies.

Thank you, eat well and be merry.
